When shopping for a new trailer, the first thing you’ll need to consider is your tow vehicle. While you may want to choose the biggest trailer on the lot, if you don’t have a vehicle that can handle the weight of your new model—as well as all the important freight you plan to pack into it—you won’t be getting anywhere anytime soon. Before you arrive at the dealership, be sure to check your tow vehicle’s user manual for its gross weight capacity. 

Trailer Bed 

Your trailer’s bed is one of its most important features. It will affect the type of cargo you carry, the accessories you use, and how long it takes to load and unload your freight. To ensure your trailer’s bed meets your unique needs and preferences, take a moment to consider the type of freight you plan to transport. Larger items will likely need an open bed that’s longer and wider than average, while large loads of small items will likely be better off with an enclosed bed.
